Beautiful Grace:
Baby Saved at Carhart’s Death Camp
- anonymous sidewalk counselor
I want to pass along the good news from ACCON on Sunday July 12th.
I received a phone call on Saturday evening from someone (we’ll call her Erin) who said she had a friend who was scheduled for an abortion in the morning. We spoke about what to do such as making sure an ultrasonographer would be at AWT that morning.
On Sunday the young woman (we’ll call her Christy) showed up for her appointment with her mom. Erin and her boyfriend met Christy at ACCON to continue to try to convince her to change her mind. They went in together. About an hour later the Carharts arrived, Christy was taken to the back with her mother, and then Erin and her boyfriend were asked to leave ACCON for “causing a disturbance.” They asked how they were causing a disturbance and were told b/c of their conversation. They wouldn’t leave because they were worried about Christy and were there to truly support her. The police ended up escorting them from the building.
I spent some time with them after they left but then had to leave. We all continued praying for Christy but knew that there was no hope that she had changed her mind as she had spent an hour in the back with the abortionist in the building.
I went to Mass and at the end entrusted all to the Lord’s wisdom and love, telling Him that although I couldn’t see how all this fit into His plan of love, I trusted Him and His ways. When I left the church I checked my messages. I had received a phone call–Christy had changed her mind! They had not done the abortion b/c the baby was bigger than expected, so they would have had to perform a 2-day procedure. As the staff was talking to her about it, she said her “maternal instinct kicked in” and she knew she couldn’t let them harm her child. She left thankful that she had almost gotten the abortion b/c she knows now that she definitely does not want an abortion and will never regret choosing life.
God is amazing! As He said, He draws all men to Himself. He allows us to participate in His plan of love through our prayers, sufferings, and works, and I am thankful for this as well as this demonstration that ultimately He is the one Who causes the growth. Lord, grant us a deeper trust in Your power and love even when we do not understand.
Blessings,
Monica
