Sidewalk counseling saves another baby.

Satan’s plans are thwarted.

After weeks of media hype, the “massive demonstrations” set for Aug. 28, and 29th did not pan out. Although I told both police and press no such demonstrations were planned, preferring sensationalism to sensibility, I was ignored. The NOW managed to rallied their forces from around the country with the battle cry “Come to Bellevue, defend the clinic”.

Paranoia ruled the day. On Friday St. Mary’s grade school was asked to close in anticipation of the dreaded event. However, the NOW could only muster around 60 people that day. Both local and federal police, were on hand as well as all the major media. As for us, it was business as usual. We had 4, the typical number on any given weekday, and God, which of course, makes us the majority.

On Saturday, Federal agents combed the Truth Trucks for explosives with bomb sniffing dogs. Surveillance cameras were placed on the perimeters of the abortion mill, even though there are cameras already in place. Mission Street was closed for three blocks past the abortion mill as well as the length of Bert Murphy.

There were about 50 pro-lifers, slightly higher than the usual number for a Saturday. The pro-aborts managed to get around 100, but that took a national call and we weren’t even trying. Besides, for us it’s not a numbers game, it’s about intervening for mothers and babies.

I can’t tell you how many police were there, but there were fewer then originally projected. I did notice about 20 extra officers, in full riot gear, standing across the street along the west wall of St. Mary’s grade school. There they remained there, collecting overtime pay, untill at least mid-afternoon.

I would like to take a moment to thank the officers. They were all helpful, courteous and professional. They are not responsible for decisions made on high.

Abortion-bound women were allowed past a police barricade and drive on to the mill. As they approached, the loud chanting of the pro-aborts made it impossible to get our message of life to these moms. To help remedy this problem, one of our counselors were allowed to stand past the barricade and say a few words to the mothers before driving on.

Monica Hejkal was the counselor posted at the barricade. She talked briefly to all the women, but was able to share materials and talk at length to one young woman in particular and her mother. The woman was disturbed by a picture of an aborted baby she saw in a brochure Monica showed her and said she couldn’t do that to her baby. Monica directed the two women to A Woman’s Touch pregnancy center. As they drove past the mill, a crowd of chanting pro-aborts followed them to the center. As they were getting out of the car, The pro-aborts stood on the sidewalk yelling out her name. The young woman was visibly shaken by this and asked why this mob is “screaming at me”.

Once inside the center she was given an ultrasound. Upon seeing he pre-born child on the screen she exclaimed, “That’s a baby! They told me it was just a ‘blob of tissue’! They lied to me!”. She asked the nurse to make copies of the sonogram and hand them out to the proabortion demonstrators at the abortion mill. She wanted them to know that it was here where she learned the truth, that “this was my baby, my child”. She said that she wanted them to know that it is the abortion mill that lies.

Handing me his camera to video record the event, Operation Rescue’s Troy Newman took the stack of pictures and we headed down to fulfill this young mother’s request.

We walked up and down the line of pro-aborts for a good 10 minutes or more while Troy, surrounded by television cameras and other media, offered each of them a picture. He explained that a young mother who changed her mind, and was going to keep her baby, wanted them to have this picture as a free gift. But all they could do was chant. And, like vampires recoiling from a crucifix, hide behind their signs to avoid catching even a glimpse of this beautiful handiwork of God.

Even in the darkest of circumstances, God is there to perform His miracles. While both local and federal law enforcement agencies worked feverishly, hand in glove with the abortion industry, to guarantee the death of each and every child scheduled to die that day, Our Lord worked a miracle. And not just one miracle, for that young woman’s life was changed forever. Also, several other cars were seen to turn away on their own rather than face the gauntlet of the abortion industry’s own making.

His grace and miracles abound.
Fiat voluntas tua.
