Nebraskans United for Life cannot endorse any current presidential candidate due to the simple fact that none of the candidates have filled out our questionnaire and they are not 100% pro-life; HOWEVER, we recommend Senator McCain for his opposition to abortion.

At Nebraskans United for Life, we pride ourselves in endorsing only 100% pro-life candidates. In order for us to endorse a candidate we request that they fill out our pro-life survey. After their survey is returned to us, we set up an appointment to interview the candidate. We then, decide who will be endorsed.

There are primarily two reasons for not endorsing a candidate. A candidate may choose not to fill out our survey, taking themselves out of consideration for endorsement or a candidate may not answer all questions in a way that affirms an unwavering pro-life stance on the issues. Some other issues may include a voting record showing a weak stance on pro-life issues, donations to anti-life causes or similar activities that have not been reconciled satisfactorily with Nebraskans United for Life.

ENDORSEMENT REVOKED FOR NEBRASKA GENERAL ELECTION OCTOBER 2006

Mr. Jim Esch's endorsement for Congressional District #2, has been revoked. Mr. Esch, answered our questionnaire 100% and visited with Mr. John Lillis, PAC Chairman and Ann Marie Bowen, President and Chairman of the Board of Nebraskans United for Life, Inc. and Nebraskans United for Life, Educational Fund. The PAC Chairman and Mrs. Bowen were convinced Mr. Esch's stands on the right to life issues were appropriate for endorsement.

Mr. Esch appeared in public on a local radio station 10/10/06 and recanted his statement to questions #1, #9 and #10 of our Candidate Questionnaire.

We believe in the right to life of each individual from conception to natural death. The statements made by Mr. Esch are not in keeping with those beliefs, since he is in favor of In Vitro Fertilization (IVF).

IVF includes procedures such as "IVF culling" or "IVF harvesting," which refers to the selective process of the embryo prior and after implantation. IVF Culling/Harvesting implies that the remaining embryos would be destroyed, frozen or used for experimentation. (More soon…)

We appreciate Mr. Esch’s opposition to elective abortion and his stand on euthanasia but with this newest development we cannot continue to endorse him for congress.

We regret any inconvenience this may have caused to early voters.

Please consider responding to our 2006 Pro Life Questionnaire. This document is put out by our Nebraskans United for Life PAC and is the only record we will have of your pre and post election stances on life. As Chairman of this wing of our pro-life outreach, I implore you to go on the record when it comes to issues of life from natural conception to natural and unaided death.

Nebraskans United for Life works to protect the lives of the unborn, the newly born, the women who bear the unborn, the elderly, the infirm, the handicapped, the disabled and the dying. We encourage you to examine your consciences while running for office and if you are elected, we encourage you to reject the temptations of 'big business' and either become or remain staunchly PRO LIFE.

Candidates that fail to return a questionnaire or who fail to answer in a 100% Pro-Life way, will not be endorsed by our Board of Directors and will not appear on this year's PINK CARD.

Each candidate receives a letter or fax from Nebraskans United for Life, requesting they answer our Questionnaire. In addition to the questionnaire, we meet with them for a more personal interview. After that, we decide whether we will endorse them or not.
