PAC QUESTIONNAIRE 2012

1. YES___NO___ At the moment of either natural or artificial conception is there a living, unique and unrepeatable “innocent”, human being present, in either the womb or in vitro [Latin in glass] (As in fertility treatments or cloning)?
2. YES___NO___ Since murder is generally accepted to be defined as the direct, premeditated and intentional killing of one innocent human being by another, is abortion (by surgical abortion or chemical abortion, regardless of a human’s stage of development), murder?
3. YES___NO___ Are you publicly, & personally, against all abortions, all euthanasia, all artificial co-creation of human life outside the womb for the purpose of cloning or fertility treatment, all assisted suicide, all mercy killing and any and all foreseeable offenses against human life? (If no, please add explanatory note.)
4. YES___NO___ Do you support and/or acquiesce to the right to kill the unborn if the unborn person has been conceived through an act of rape or incest, do you support the death sentence (abortion) for children so conceived?
5. YES___NO___ Furthermore, understanding these same groups all allow for the unborn to be killed “to save the life of the mother”, which is in fact construed by killers to mean the life as in the health of the mother – which – in reality becomes an assessment of her mental, financial, psychological and other subjective states of well being (translating necessarily into our current debacle of abortion on demand) ~ do you agree with this much touted abortion “exception”?
6. YES___NO___ Do you believe that the direct and intentional killing of an unborn child in the womb can ever save the physical life of the mother?
7. YES___NO___ Knowing the principal of double-effect allows for legitimate therapy to be performed on a woman even if the UNINTENDED consequence of such therapy would mean the death of her unborn child – which is NOT and NEVER is an abortion, do you really think that abortions should be allowed to save the life of the mother?
8. YES___NO___ Do you support Planned Parenthoods teaching: violence against women and the unborn through abortion in our public and private schools, distributing books on masturbation to kindergarteners, and condoms to teenagers under the legal age of consent?
9. YES___NO___ Is it permissible to abort children with disease or who are physically deformed (As in down syndrome, fetal defects, etc)?
10. YES___NO___ Is it permissible to abort or freeze so-called “extra” babies during fertility or experimental cloning treatments (as in “reductions”)?
11. YES___NO___ Is it okay to kill an unborn human for his or her stem-cells, since it has been scientifically proven that adult stem cells can be taken without destroying human life and, research using adult stem cells has been more successful than embryonic stem cells?
12. YES___NO___ Do you specifically support embryonic stem cell research in any form? If so please explain.
13. YES___NO___ Would you sponsor, co-sponsor, support and/or vote for an Amendment to the US Constitution & and or the Nebraska Constitution that would definitively protect all human life from conception to natural and unaided death? (The so called Human Life Amendment)?
14. YES___NO___ Are you now or have you ever received money directly or indirectly, personally or for a political campaign, from any group or PAC that supports abortion, euthanasia, assisted suicide, mercy killings, unethical gene therapy, reproductive or therapeutic cloning, the sale of baby body parts or any other life-offending group?
15. YES____ NO ____Would you ever accept monies, personally or for a political campaign, from any pro-death organizations?
16. YES____ NO ____Will you defend against the erosion of the First Amendment Right of all Americans, including Pro-Life Americans?
17. YES___NO___ Will you work to force the closure of all abortion facilities, in Nebraska and throughout the United States?
18. YES___NO___ Will you work to end the trafficking and collection of fees for all baby parts obtained from the malfeasances of researchers and abortionists?
19. YES____ NO ____Knowing that RU-486, “Plan B” pills, Ella and “emergency contraception” and “the pill”, are ALL abortifacients that kill unborn children, do you support the use & distribution of them? (If yes, provide an explanatory note.)
20. YES____ NO ____ Will you support, appoint and/or vote for Pro-Life judges?
21. YES____ NO ____ Will you support, appoint and/or vote for Pro-Life Nebraska Senators to the Unicameral, Pro-Life US Representatives and Senator to the US House of Congress.
22. YES____ NO ____Will you pledge to pray and work for the end of all offences against human life without exception or compromise?

BACKGROUND

Two years ago, the federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services notified Nebraska that its decades-long policy of insuring prenatal health care for unborn children in impoverished families under the Medicaid program had to be discontinued. Medicaid does not include the unborn as eligible recipients of prenatal health care in their own right. However, another joint federal-state program, the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP), does just that. In fact, the CHIP program explicitly includes unborn children “from conception to birth” in its definition of “child.” This enables the state to provide coverage of prenatal health care regardless of the mother’s eligibility status–other than impoverishment–and in doing so recognizes the individual humanity of the unborn child.

Unfortunately, the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services (NDHHS) has chosen not to apply for the unborn-child option available under CHIP. However, the Nebraska Legislature is about to begin debate on LB 599, a bill that would restore access to prenatal health care for vulnerable unborn children by requiring NDHHS to apply for the unborn-child option under CHIP.

ACTION

Contact your state senator–and any others you know or with whom you have a connection–by e-mail or phone. Urge others to do the same. Even if you acted on the previous alert on this matter, please do a follow-up, as the matter has become even more urgent due to scheduling on the bill.

MESSAGE

“Please support LB 599, to restore access to prenatal health care for vulnerable unborn children by means of the unborn-child option of the Children’s Health Insurance Program. As a Pro Life Nebraskan, I believe it is wrong to ignore and penalize unborn children in impoverished families because of the circumstances and actions of their parents. LB 599 is the right and caring thing to do.

WHEN

ASAP. LB 599 is likely to be called for floor debate sometime tomorrow-Tuesday, April 3rd.

You can find additional Talking Points for LB 599 here.

Senator Johanns e-Update
October 6, 2011
In a letter today, I called on the Administration to live up to promises made during the health care debate by the President and some in Congress to protect conscience rights. The Department of Health and Human Services recently proposed a rule to implement the new health care law requiring all new health insurance plans to provide preventative services, including contraceptives and the “morning after” pill, at no cost to the patient. It included a “religious exemption” clause, but it is too narrow. Many faith-based businesses, hospitals and other organizations will be faced with the difficult choice of complying with this rule against their deeply-held convictions or dropping health care coverage entirely.

I’m deeply disappointed in the rule, though I can’t say I’m surprised. Throughout the health care debate, I continuously warned that it did not go far enough to protect life and conscience rights, and it is one of the many reasons I voted against it. Pro-life individuals were misled when they were promised the protection of conscience rights during the health care debate. I said all along the health care bill did not go far enough to protect life, and this latest rule is one more example of the law’s broken promises.

Dear Pro-Life friends,

LB521 was introduced by Senator Tony Fulton in the Nebraska Legislature to make it illegal for Planned Parenthood or any abortionist to perform Webcam or Telemed abortions. In Iowa Planned Parenthood is already doing telemed abortions.

Please contact the Judiciary Committee members and ask them to please vote LB521 out of committee so it can be voted in the NE state legislature to ban Webcam Abortions.

http://news.legislature.ne.gov/jud/

Committee Members

Sen. Brad Ashford, Chairperson
Sen. Colby Coash
Sen. Brenda Council
Sen. Burke Harr
Sen. Tyson Larson
Sen. Steve Lathrop
Sen. Scott Lautenbaugh
Sen. Amanda McGill

A telemed abortion is abortion via a teleconferencing service similar to “Skype.” Patients are put in a room where an off-site abortionist appears on a computer monitor and explains the medical abortion procedure to them over an Internet hook-up. After the brief teleconference, the dangerous abortion drug RU486, also known as Mifepristone and Mifeprex, and its counterpart, Misoprostol, are prescribed. The drugs are then administered to the patient by a nurse or “clinician” who may or may not be licensed. The patient presses a button an on computer screen that opens a box containing the abortion drugs. The patient is never physically examined by the medical doctor prescribing the drugs – or any other, for that matter – and never sees the abortionist again.

Increased Risks To Women

This development should trouble those who are concerned about the health and safety of women and their pre-born babies.
Mifepristone (Mifeprex or RU 486), the main component of medical abortions, has been responsible for at least eight abortion deaths and over 1,100 serious complications in the United States alone. It is recommended only for early abortions under nine weeks gestation. In addition, medical abortions carry a 7-20 percent failure rate, depending on how the pills are administered. Women who suffer failed or incomplete abortions would require them to be completed surgically or face life-threatening complications. With no doctor in sight, that presents a new danger to women.
Described by one Planned Parenthood receptionist as a “self-induced miscarriage,” the medical abortion process takes days, can be very painful, and involves heavy bleeding and cramping until the pre-born baby is expelled. Yet, the only follow-up offered by Planned Parenthood is a recommended appointment in “two or three weeks” after the abortion where a second ultrasound is offered to make sure the “pregnancy no longer exists.”

This follow-up care is completely inadequate. If tissue from the pregnancy is retained, that presents a risk of infection to the woman that could kill her, especially if care is delayed 2-3 weeks.

In a recently published study conducted on 120 women who underwent medical abortions at 9 weeks, 34 of the women (28%) retained tissue. Fetal heartbeats were detected in fourteen of those pregnancies (11.6%), but abdominal ultrasound only detected the heartbeats in ten of those cases for a 29% failure rate. The study concluded that abdominal ultrasound examination alone is not entirely reliable after medical abortion and also concluded that the higher the woman’s body mass index, the higher the risk of not detecting retained tissue or even a complete pregnancy.

“I cannot imagine a woman going through the process of miscarriage, either natural or forced, and not having access to a physician, especially for follow-up care,” said Newman. “Any number of things could go wrong, and to never actually be seen by a licensed doctor during the entire process seems risky at best, grossly negligent, and perhaps criminal.”

Following is wording of LB 521 Ban on Webcam Abortions:

Dear Senator NAME OF SENATOR HERE,

I am writing to ask you to please vote for LB521 out of the judiciary committee, which was introduced by Senator Tony Fulton to Ban Webcam Abortions in Nebraska.

Telemed abortions are being done in Iowa, by the Planned Parenthood of the Heartland, where medical abortions are offered in 16 clinics throughout Iowa, but only four of the clinics actually have doctors. At the other twelve, smaller clinics, telemed abortions have become routine.

After the brief teleconference, the dangerous abortion drug RU486, also known as Mifepristone and Mifeprex, and its counterpart, Misoprostol, are prescribed. The drugs are then administered to the patient by a nurse or “clinician” who may or may not be licensed. The patient presses a button on a computer screen that opens a box containing the abortion drugs. The patient is never physically examined by the medical doctor prescribing the drugs – or any other, for that matter – and never sees the abortionist again.

I cannot imagine a woman going through the process of miscarriage, either natural or forced, and not having access to a physician, especially for follow-up care. Any number of things could go wrong, and to never actually be seen by a licensed doctor during the entire process seems risky at best, grossly negligent, and perhaps criminal.

I do not want these dangerous Webcam abortions to be done in Nebraska which will harm women and kill their unborn children. Again, I ask you to please vote for LB 521 out of the judiciary committee and allow the state legislature to vote to ban Telemed Abortions.

Thank you for your consideration.

Sincerely,
The other issues preceding our hearing were about animal breeding and education for blind students.
We noticed a blind woman who stayed to hear the pros and cons of sex ed as she took notes on her Braille machine. First presenters were those wanting to force sex ed on the whole NE school systems, starting with middle grades. When it was time for the opponents – those of us who know this is another way to push birth control methods philosophy – we were joined by NE Catholic Conference, Omaha Public Schools Bd. of Ed. and other school districts who oppose it for a variety of reasons.
Interestingly, the panel asked questions of those who are in favor of sex ed – so they had MUCH more time allotted. We each got our 3 minutes –the panel did not ask us questions.

BILLS TO SUPPORT

LB 521 Web Cam Abortion Ban
Public Hearing March 9, Judiciary Committee Sen. Tony Fulton. Requires a physician to be physically present in the same room as the woman when administering the chemical abortion drug RU 486. Hearing March 9 at 1:30.
LB 22 Ban on Abortion Coverage in State Healthcare Exchanges and Private Plans Sen Beau McCoy
Prohibits abortion coverage in health insurance plans offered through state health insurance exchanges – even with an abortion rider
LB 132 Ban on Abortion Coverage in State Healthcare Exchanges Only. Sen Annette Dubas. Allows for abortions when life of the mother is endangered.
LB 690 Parental Consent for Minors’ Abortions. Sen Lydia Brasch. Replaces NE parental notification law with the requirement a minor (under 18) obtain
notarized parental consent before an abortion.
LB 461 Freedom of Conscience re: Abortion and Embryo-destructive Research Sen Pirsch Hearing March 9 at 1:30. info — call office 399-0299
LB 232 Pregnant Woman’s Protection Act Sen. Mark Christensen

OPPOSE THESE BILLS
LB 540 Medicaid Expansion for Coverage of “Family Planning
LB 192 Mandates Public Schools to teach “Comprehensive” Sex Education
PP is Very Very Scared.
Lila Rose and Live Action has released another undercover video from inside a PP clinic in NYC. AGAIN PP was caught red-handed aiding and abetting in alleged human trafficking and prostitution of young girls. Six videos in three different states have been released the problem in PP.
PP is vulnerable – but they have deep pockets – and powerful friends. MoveOn.org has launched a massive grassroots campaign trying to discredit Lila and Live Action. They want our tax dollars to continue flowing to PP.

CALL YOUR CONGRESSIONAL REPRESENTATIVE TODAY. Ask him to support the Title X Abortion Provider Prohibition Act.
We are blessed to have three pro-life congressional representatives in Nebraska, but they need to know how concerned we are.
Rep. Lee Terry (202) 225-4155 OR (402)397-9944
Rep. Jeff Fortenberry (202) 225-4806
Rep. Adrian Smith (202) 225-6435 or (308) 633-6333 in Scottsbluff or (308) 384-3900 in Grand Island

Other Info about PP:
•	Why didn’t PP call the police when the “pimp” was in the clinic instead of waiting a week – when they found out they were “stung.”
•	They had to “re-train” their staff after another sting in Dec of 2008 – didn’t sink in.
•	PP claims their staff acted “professionally” – does that mean they told them how to use the system and not get caught?
•	It is a federal crime to aid and abet in the trafficking of underage persons. PP was willing to give secret abortions, birth control and the services that a pimp would need to keep his sex slaves on the street.
