Nebraskans United for Life held its Annual Celebration for Life Dinner and Auction on January 14th 2006, at the Holiday Inn Central. In addition to our many guests and volunteers were members of government at all levels, all showing their continued support for life issues.
Our guest speaker was Brother Paul O’Donnell, executive director for pro-life action Ministries Minneapolis Minnesota and the Franciscan Brothers of Peace. He reminded us of the value of the life including those whose lives are being declared “no longer worth living”. Euthanasia is quickly emerging as one of the newest battlefields in the war against the culture of death.
We were pleased to have the opportunity to present awards, to those championing the various causes of life, and encouraged by the generosity of those who gave their donations and time to make our “Luau for Life” a success!
A BIG THANK YOU!
We are very grateful for all the auction items donated for our 2006 Luau Dinner. Many were donated by our endorsed political candidates and representatives, as well as from members and friends of Nebraskans United for Life. There were over 100 items, of much variety, on which people bid. The auction was a HUGE success.
God bless your generosity!
Looking forward to next year!

We will be holding our Annual Celebration for Life Dinner (sponsored by Nebraskans United for Life) on January 14th, 2006, at the Holiday Inn Central.
The cost this year will be $80 per couple. Single tickets $45 for non-members and $40 for members. Table for 10 $375 (a savings of $25 per table). CLICK HERE to purchase your tickets or call 402-399-0299 for reservations. Seating will be limited.
Our guess Speaker will be Brother Paul O’Donnell, executive director for pro-life action Ministries Minneapolis Minnesota and the Franciscan Brothers of Peace. He will urge us to fight against euthanasia just as we have been fighting against abortion. Brother Paul is a native Omahan, raised in the Field Club neighborhood. He was an activist in the Pro-Life movement beginning in his high school years.
The ideal of the Franciscan Brothers of Peace is to live the Gospel of Jesus Christ after the example of our founder, Saint Francis of Assisi. Founded in 1982 by Michael Gaworski, we seek to rediscover and live in the fullness of the Christian Faith through the enlightenment of the magisterium, Sacred Scripture and the Church’s Tradition.
Above all, we desire union with God and an ever-growing love for Him by living a simple life of prayer and repentance and by bringing Christ’s peace and reconciliation to all people.
“It is important for you to know that as Franciscan Brothers of Peace, we accept no personal salaries or stipends for anything we do, but rather we live on Divine providence, depending totally upon God for all our needs. As a brotherhood, we hold all things in common, and everything given to us beyond what is needed to survive we share with others. This has always been our commitment and will continue to be our guiding principle as we remain accountable to you and to those in authority over us.
By God’s grace, we dedicate our lives to be missionaries of Christ’s peace-giving free, wholehearted service to the spiritually and bodily poor of the world. We see this calling as one of recognizing the love of God come to us in our Savior, Jesus Christ, and our obligation to share this love with every person-all made in His Image and Likeness.
At present, we are actively involved in a number of non-institutional ministries:
# We provide sanctuary and a loving, spiritual and healing home to international survivors of torture who live with us in our Saint Paul headquarters, Queen of Peace Friary.
# Our Brothers try to bring the peace of Jesus Christ to their neighbors in a violent, North Minneapolis neighborhood overrun with drug and gang activity, from our mission house, Saint Francis Friary.
# We maintain an emergency food shelf and clothing distribution program for the poor.
# We volunteer our time in the Right to Life movement (praying at abortion clinics, assisting unwed mothers and those in crisis pregnancies, etc.), befriending the homeless and outcast, visiting the imprisoned and the sick, and other small acts of charity and mercy.
Sincerely in Jesus Christ,
.-Br. Paul J. O’Donnell, fbp
Brother Paul O’Donnell has also been very involved with The Terri Schindler Schiavo Foundation, Inc. The TSSF fights for the lives of the country’s most vulnerable citizens to help others avoid future tragedies that reflect what Terri endured.
“God has blessed us for these more then thirty years with just enough to keep our doors open and to accomplish most of our projects and goals. So we will continue to trust in God, and hopefully do His will for the right to life, with your help.”
